About the role

Role Overview

Associate Counsel (Remote) advising Alliant’s employee benefits business group on a broad range of legal issues. The role focuses on contract review, drafting, negotiation, privacy/security legal matters, and maintaining internal legal processes and templates.

Responsibilities

  • Review, draft, and negotiate a variety of agreements, including:
    • Master services agreements, vendor agreements, independent contractor agreements
    • Data privacy agreements, confidentiality agreements
    • Referral agreements, business associate agreements
    • Other commercial transactional agreements
  • Provide practical, business-centric legal guidance to stakeholders and leadership.
  • Partner with business units to understand commercial requirements and legal project needs.
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams (IT, risk management, accounting, sales, operations, marketing, HR) on contract review and legal compliance.
  • Advise corporate departments and business groups on privacy and security laws/regulations and relevant industry standards; coordinate with external counsel when needed.
  • Review, update, and maintain internal legal policies, processes, playbooks, checklists, self-service tools, trainings, and templates.
  • Perform duties in accordance with company policies and applicable federal, state, and local laws.

Requirements

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an ABA-accredited law school (required).
  • Member in good standing of at least one State Bar or the District of Columbia Bar (required).
  • 2+ years of related work experience (required).
  • Experience reviewing, drafting, and negotiating contracts (required), including complex commercial agreements.
  • Privacy/data protection experience with U.S. state and federal consumer protection and privacy laws, GDPR, and other privacy laws.
  • Ability to provide creative, business-friendly solutions during complex negotiations.

Nice to Have

  • Specialist legal experience in areas such as healthcare, SEC regulatory, insurance, or data privacy.
  • Experience with go-to-market agreements or enterprise technology agreements.
