About the role

Role Overview

Big Health is seeking an Associate Counsel to provide legal support across commercial contracting, healthcare regulatory compliance, and data privacy. You will be a key day-to-day legal partner for cross-functional teams, translating complex legal requirements into practical guardrails to enable business growth.

Key Responsibilities

Draft, review, and negotiate commercial and clinical agreements, including licensing, collaborations, research, and vendor agreements
Advise on healthcare compliance, including regulations such as Anti-Kickback and the Sunshine Act
Support data privacy and security compliance across US and global requirements
Provide first point of contact for day-to-day legal questions and risk guidance
Contribute to scalable legal workflows and policies

Requirements

3–5 years of relevant legal experience (ideally with a mix of law firm and in-house experience) in healthcare, digital health, or life sciences
J.D. from an accredited U.S. law school and active bar membership in good standing (CA, MA, or DE preferred)
Familiarity with privacy/security laws including HIPAA, GDPR, and CCPA, including experience operationalizing privacy compliance
Working knowledge of healthcare regulatory frameworks, including FDA regulations for software-based medical devices, HIPAA, and federal/state fraud and abuse laws
Strong experience drafting, reviewing, and negotiating a wide range of commercial contracts
Excellent organization, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
Strong written and verbal communication skills to tailor messaging for cross-functional stakeholders
Comfort working cross-functionally with product, compliance, commercial, and regulatory teams
