Associate/Contractor - Fire, Health and Safety Consultant

Role

Fire, Health & Safety Consultant (Contractor/Associate) You will support clients with fire and health & safety risk assessments, reporting, and site management systems, delivering solutions that meet regulatory requirements and Ark’s standards.

Responsibilities

• Undertake fire and health & safety risk assessments, meeting fee-earning targets
• Deliver fire and H&S assignments within your competency
• Produce client reports within agreed SLAs, using a forensic yet practical approach
• Design health & safety site management systems tailored to client needs
• Conduct onsite briefings and advise on risk management improvements
• Work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders
• Coordinate with other consultants to share knowledge across the team
• Use and demonstrate understanding of risk/control/compliance requirements in relation to QUOODA® (online management system)

Requirements (Ideal Candidate)

• 3+ years experience conducting fire and health & safety risk assessments in the built environment (residential and/or commercial)
• Strong working knowledge of Approved Document B
• Strong working knowledge of BS 9999 / BS 9997
• Ability to assess fire/H&S risks for buildings suitable to be competent for seven or more floors
• Ability to undertake Fire Risk Assessments and General Risk Assessments concurrently
• Clear communication and strong report writing skills
• Comprehensive understanding of current UK regulations

Qualifications

• NEBOSH General Certificate in Health & Safety (or equivalent) minimum
• Minimum Level 3 in Fire Safety / Fire Risk
• Recognised fire safety membership (e.g., AIFireE, MIFireE, GIFireE, MIFSM)
• Willing to apply for or registered on relevant fire risk assessor registers (e.g., IFSM, FRACS, IFPO, IFE)

Working / Logistics

• Ability to support hybrid working with a suitable home office setup for connectivity to office and clients, enabling safe and productive delivery of daily duties.
