Artificial Intelligence Engineer

Role Overview

Akkodis is seeking a Machine Learning/AI Engineer (remote within the United States) to work with research and engineering teams on AI safety for LLMs. You will help assess and improve the safety and inclusivity of multilingual, multimodal, and reasoning models at scale, focusing on responsible behavior and content safety.

Responsibilities

• Develop datasets and moderator/evaluation models for LLM content safety and ML fairness, including text-to-text and multimodal-to-text systems.
• Create training datasets using SFT and RL techniques for content safety, ML fairness, security, and related areas.
• Research and implement techniques for bias detection and mitigation in LLMs and broader systems.
• Define and track key metrics for responsible LLM behavior and usage.
• Apply best practices for automation, monitoring, scale, and safety.
• Contribute to repositories and build safety tools for ML teams.
• Perform data preprocessing, cleaning, transformation, and exploratory data analysis (EDA) to improve model performance.
• Collaborate with product engineers, data scientists, and analysts to translate business requirements into ML solutions.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s in Computer Science (or related) or equivalent experience.
• 2+ years experience as an ML Engineer or Deep Learning Scientist delivering ML solutions.
• Strong Python skills and experience with TensorFlow, PyTorch, and/or scikit-learn.
• Proficiency with NumPy and pandas for data manipulation, analysis, and visualization.
• Strong understanding of ML algorithms, statistical models, and data structures.
• Familiarity with software practices and Git.
• Strong problem-solving, analytical, collaboration, and communication skills.

Nice to Have

• GenAI security experience (e.g., prompt injection, stability, model extraction, confidentiality/data extraction, integrity, availability, adversarial robustness).
• Content safety specialization (e.g., hate/harassment, sexualized, harmful/violent).
• Experience with alignment/fine-tuning of LLMs (LLMs and/or VLMs; any-to-text).
• Experience with multimodal and/or multilingual content safety plus legal/regulatory compliance.
• Prior research/publication experience and strong commitment to advancing the field.
