Ariba Product Owner - Remote Role

Role Overview

Senior hands-on SAP Ariba Product Owner / Product Manager (not a developer role) for a Source-to-Pay transformation. Own the SAP Ariba product lifecycle end-to-end: roadmap and backlog, configuration and governance, integrations, releases, and L3 support.

Location/Time Zone: Remote (aligned to PST)

Responsibilities

Product Ownership & Business Partnership (25%)

• Define and manage the SAP Ariba product roadmap, backlog, and release plans aligned to Source-to-Pay objectives.
• Gather/analyze business requirements and translate them into user stories and functional/technical specifications.
• Partner with Procurement, AP, and Finance to optimize Source-to-Pay processes using standard Ariba capabilities.
• Support change management, training, and user adoption.
• Stay current on Ariba releases/features and drive continuous improvement.

Ariba Configuration, Governance & Operations (30%)

• Lead hands-on configuration across Ariba modules such as:
  • Sourcing, Contracts, Buying & Invoicing
  • SLP/SQM
• Design/maintain workflows, approval rules, Guided Buying policies, and catalog structures.
• Ensure master and transactional data integrity.
• Enforce security, roles/permissions, and compliance with internal controls.
• Maintain functional/technical documentation (configuration guides, process flows).

Integration Design, Build & Support (20%)

• Provide functional/technical oversight for integrations between Ariba, SAP ECC, SAP S/4HANA, and non-SAP systems.
• Lead integration design/support using OData, SOAP/REST APIs, and IDocs.
• Design/implement integration flows using SAP Business Technology Platform (BTP) Integration Suite (CPI).

Testing, Release & Performance Management (20%)

• Coordinate SIT, UAT, and regression testing for Ariba enhancements.
• Manage deployments across environments.
• Provide L3 support, run root cause analysis, and coordinate with SAP/Ariba support.
• Monitor performance and usage; identify optimization opportunities.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field.
• 7+ years of progressive experience with SAP Ariba implementations/support/product management.
• At least 3 full lifecycle SAP Ariba implementations in a lead/senior/Product Owner role.
• Proven experience as a Product Owner/Solution Owner for a SaaS platform (preferably Source-to-Pay).
• Hands-on expertise in key Ariba modules including:
  • Spend Control Tower, Ariba Business Network, Sourcing, Contracts,
  • Buying & Invoicing (P2P, Guided Buying, Catalogs, PunchOut/CIF), SLP/SQM.
• Experience integrating Ariba with SAP ECC or S/4HANA (MM, FI, AP).
• Experience working in Agile/hybrid Agile, including backlog management and sprint planning.
• Advanced Ariba configuration expertise.
• Proficiency with SAP BTP Integration Suite (CPI) and Cloud Integration Gateway (CIG).
• Strong integration skills with OData, SOAP/REST APIs, and IDocs.

• Deep data governance/management experience and strong stakeholder partnership skills across Procurement/Finance/IT.
