About the role

Role Overview

DEPT® is seeking a hands-on Architect, Software Engineering (Adobe - AEM/WorkFront) to join its forward-deployed architecture squad in North America. This is a technical execution role focused on web craft excellence, working directly in complex client environments to audit code, improve performance, unblock architecture, and lead migrations to modern, cloud-native CMS setups.

Responsibilities

Perform code & performance audits
- Conduct deep frontend code reviews
- Implement targeted speed optimizations (page-load performance, edge routing configuration, script minimization)
Deliver cloud migrations
- Lead hands-on migration from legacy/on-prem/managed web environments to modern cloud-native CMS architectures
Remediate asset workflows
- Reconfigure asset taxonomies, permissions, metadata schemas, and SSO paths to unblock creative workflows
Implement decoupled interfaces
- Build and optimize modern headless/decoupled frontends for high-performance rendering
Support technical handoffs
- Document fixes
- Create SOPs (standard operating procedures) for client development teams
- Transition stabilized assets cleanly

Requirements

10+ years of frontend-focused software engineering experience, including modern CSS/JS frameworks and headless web development
Strong web architecture expertise:
- CDN edge routing, web caching layers
- Single Sign-On (SSO) configurations
- taxonomy models
Adobe Experience (hands-on):
- Adobe Experience Manager (AEM Sites and AEM Assets) across AEM Cloud Service and legacy on-prem/managed versions
- Experience deploying/tuning AEM Edge Delivery Services (EDS) for performance
- AEM Assets (DAM): asset search facets and creative workflow management across Creative Cloud for Enterprise and Adobe Express
Experience architecting/integrating commerce capabilities (products, payments, fulfillment) using Adobe Commerce and similar platforms
Consultative mindset: able to collaborate with client teams and clearly explain technical fixes

Work Model

Remote role (North America) with travel expected
