Architect

Role Overview

HB Design and Engineering is seeking a Project Architect (lead in-house architect) to take full ownership of architectural deliverables. This is not a support role—you will be accountable for quality, timelines, and outcomes from concept through construction.

Responsibilities

• Take end-to-end ownership of projects from concept through construction
• Serve as the primary architectural point of contact for each development
• Lead schematic design and conceptual planning for ground-up multifamily projects
• Prepare and manage site plans, entitlement submittals, and zoning applications
• Produce construction documents and permit drawing packages
• Oversee construction administration activities (site visits, RFIs, submittals, and change management)
• Coordinate with civil, structural, MEP, and other engineering consultants
• Interface directly with municipalities, building departments, and land use staff
• Ensure compliance with local building codes, zoning laws, and environmental regulations
• Manage design timelines and deliverables across multiple concurrent projects
• Support due diligence for land acquisitions from an architectural and entitlement perspective

Requirements

• 3+ years of professional multifamily architectural experience
• Must have designed or documented apartment or mixed-use projects (multifamily residential experience required)
• Self-starter who takes ownership and meets deadlines without step-by-step management
• Strong understanding of building codes, zoning regulations, and construction management practices
• Florida architectural license strongly preferred (license-eligible candidates considered)
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment
• Strong communication skills with public agencies, consultants, and stakeholders

Nice to Have

• Experience with affordable housing and/or HUD-regulated projects

Location / Remote

• Remote (must be US-based) and welcome applicants with deep multifamily or affordable housing experience.
