Architect (Front End, Senior)

Role overview

Senior Architect (Front End) who owns end-to-end architectural problems and sets front-end architecture direction across the engineering org. You will design and implement the systems that power web and mobile payment experiences, including component systems, state/data-fetching patterns, and the BFF/edge layers that connect the front end to backend services.

Responsibilities

• Own front-end architecture across the engineering org (web + mobile platform, design system, shared component libraries)
• Define and standardize architecture patterns, including:
  • Component APIs
  • State management and data-fetching patterns
  • BFF and edge patterns connecting to services
• Stay hands-on by:
  • Leading prototyping of reusable patterns that teams adopt
  • Writing code in the hardest parts of the front-end platform
  • Leading front-end architecture reviews across squads
• Lead cross-cutting architecture decisions and grow the front-end architecture practice
• Mentor mid-level engineers and team leads
• Lead engineering adoption of AI in front-end work by using agentic coding tools daily and shaping AI use across design, code, testing, and documentation

Requirements (Must-have)

• 7–10+ years building production software end-to-end
• At least 3 years in architecture-leaning work (e.g., front-end platform, system design, or technical leadership)
• Proven experience setting front-end architecture across multiple teams/engineering org, including architecture reviews and mentoring
• Strong front-end proficiency in TypeScript with Vue, React, or equivalent (core stack)
• Solid CS fundamentals (OOP design, domain-driven design, data structures, pragmatic system design)
• Deep front-end architecture knowledge (component systems, state management, data fetching, BFF/edge patterns)
• Strong understanding of web performance and accessibility; how front-end systems consume APIs/services
• AWS production experience, including CI/CD (GitHub Actions or equivalent)
• Payments/FX or regulated-industry experience
• Daily usage of agentic coding tools (Copilot, Cursor, Claude Code, or equivalent) across the SDLC with a point of view on AI’s role in architecture
• Strong written and verbal communication and ability to explain architectural tradeoffs to product/business audiences

Nice-to-haves

• Experience owning a design system or shared component libraries at scale
• Familiarity with C# / .NET backend stack and front-end integration
• Familiarity with TOGAF, SAFe
