Applied Machine Learning Engineer, EMEA

Role Overview

As an Applied Machine Learning Engineer (EMEA) at Fireworks, you’ll bridge AI research and real-world deployments. This is a hands-on engineering role focused on developing, fine-tuning, and operationalizing ML models to deliver business value and improve user experiences.

Responsibilities

• Customer Success / GTM Alignment: Work with the GTM team (Account Executives and Solutions Architects) to ensure smooth integration and successful deployment of ML solutions.
• Demo / Proof of Concept (PoC): Build and present PoCs demonstrating the capabilities of Fireworks’ AI technology.
• Application Build: Design, develop, and deploy end-to-end AI-powered applications tailored to customer needs.
• Platform Features & Bug Fixes: Contribute to the internal ML platform by adding features and resolving issues.
• New Model Enablements: Integrate and enable new ML models in the platform or customer environments.
• Performance Optimizations: Improve latency, efficiency, and scalability of deployed models and applications.
• Partnership Enablement: Collaborate with partners to deliver joint AI solutions.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
• 5+ years of experience in software engineering (strong preference for customer-facing roles).
• Strong coding skills, preferably Python.
• Ability to lead and execute complex technical projects with a customer-success mindset.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills; thrive in dynamic, cross-functional teams.

Preferred Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
• Experience in a startup / fast-paced environment.
• Hands-on ML fine-tuning experience, including SFT and RLHF/RFT.
• Solid understanding of generative AI, ML principles, and enterprise infrastructure.
