Applications Programmer (Remote)

Role Overview

Applications Programmer at Kumon North America will design, develop, maintain, and enhance Kumon’s web and backend applications across multiple systems and projects.

Note: Although the title says “Remote,” this is not fully remote. You must visit the Rutherford, NJ office 1–2x per quarter.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain web applications, backend services, and executable applications as needed
• Collaborate on front-end functionality (not design) plus back-end/database development
• Deliver enhancements and maintenance across multiple internal and public-facing applications
• Build, optimize, and maintain SQL queries and stored procedures with complex data logic
• Work with developers, QA, graphic designers, and business stakeholders to deliver solutions
• Perform self-testing and support code quality for performance, reliability, and maintainability
• Support troubleshooting, debugging, testing, and deployment support as needed

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related technical field
• Minimum 3 years hands-on application development experience (3–5 preferred)
• Mandatory Microsoft stack skills:
  • C# / .NET / .NET Core
  • ASP.NET / ASP.NET MVC
  • Microsoft SQL Server
  • Strong experience writing and maintaining stored procedures and complex queries

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in a full-stack development environment
• Ability to balance new development with ongoing maintenance/enhancements
• Strong communication skills and comfort working in a small collaborative team
