Application Software Developer

Role Overview

The Application Software Developer is responsible for implementing, testing, and verifying technical solutions to project requirements. You will follow defined software development practices to deliver work that meets schedule and quality expectations.

Responsibilities

• Apply engineering principles to solve issues and execute development work for customers
• Understand and work within MCG products and their architecture (e.g., database, user interface)
• Collaborate with stakeholders including Product Managers, Project Managers, Business Analysts, developers, customers, and App Support
• Work on 1–2+ projects, taking accountability for quality and schedule of assigned tasks
• Represent business logic in TSQL within MS SQL Server
• Provide problem-solving support; may include direct customer interaction on some projects
• Participate in after-hours support for MCG products and issue resolution
• Adhere to departmental policies (training, communication, confidentiality, security, attendance, time reporting, scheduling, etc.)

Requirements

• 5–7+ years of software development experience delivering applications using TSQL and Microsoft-targeted development tools
• Excellent programming abilities in MS SQL Server (TSQL), including:
  • Stored procedures
  • Indexing
  • Triggers
  • Cursors
• Strong understanding of the software development lifecycle
• Ability to execute development efforts and adapt to different programming environments/languages as needed to meet business requirements
• Effective written and oral communication skills

Nice-to-Haves

• Experience with C# .NET, XML, ASP.NET, JavaScript, and Web Services
• Analytical and problem-solving abilities, plus prioritization and time management skills

Supervisory Responsibilities

• Project responsibility is expected, but the role normally does not supervise others.
