About the role

Role Overview

Senior Back End Engineer at a product-led SaaS business, focused on building and evolving backend services with an AI-assisted development workflow. You’ll work across both modern TypeScript/JavaScript systems and existing legacy PHP.

Responsibilities

Build and maintain backend APIs and services across a modern TS/JS stack
Collaborate with legacy PHP systems to evolve and modernize the platform
Use AI engineering tools (e.g., Claude/ChatGPT) to accelerate development, debugging, and delivery
Design scalable services and maintain clean system boundaries
Integrate third-party APIs (including AI, analytics, and external services)
Work closely with product and UX teams to shape features early
Contribute to architecture decisions and technical direction

Requirements

Strong commercial backend engineering experience
Production experience with TypeScript and JavaScript
Experience working with or alongside PHP systems
Hands-on, active use of AI engineering tools (e.g., Claude, ChatGPT, or similar)
Strong API development and system design understanding
Experience integrating third-party services and APIs
Comfortable working in a fast-moving product environment
