Application Developer/Designer

Role Overview

Application Developer/Designer within FSU Information Technology Services (ITS), working on a custom development team building and maintaining primarily .NET web applications for university colleges and departments.

Responsibilities

• Review, analyze, and modify programming systems to support departmental and university business applications
• Gather user requirements, create specifications, and develop code for new and existing applications
• Encode, test, debug, and install applications
• Serve as a primary technology consultant for Student Information Systems, advising on IT use related to student systems
• Partner with business analysis and project management teams to:
  • design, analyze, develop, deploy, install, modify, and support systems
  • provide technical analysis of proposed solutions and establish project plans
• Analyze usage trends and develop standards and guidelines
• Evaluate and learn new technologies to improve delivery of services
• Identify current and future needs to ensure applications support departmental missions
• Support activities such as assisting with user acceptance testing (UAT) and related work
• Follow ITS processes for support requests, work orders, project management, change management, and incident management

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, MIS, or related field plus 2 years’ experience, or
• High school diploma (or equivalent) plus 6 years’ experience (or equivalent combination of education and experience)

Preferred Qualifications

• Familiarity with .NET web development and web technologies: HTML, CSS, JavaScript
• Familiarity with Oracle database
• Plus: Salesforce, Git, IIS, and basic Windows Server Administration
