About the role
Role Overview
Groundswell is hiring an Appian Business Analyst to partner with Appian product teams and (potentially) customers to generate and refine requirements for Appian applications.
Responsibilities
- Support Product Dev Managers in defining an MVP for an application/product and associated release plans.
- Perform requirements discovery, including:
- data modeling
- process improvement/reengineering analysis
- process design
- BPM application modeling
- UI design and data interface requirements
- Lead discovery workshops with customer stakeholders to collect and document solution requirements.
- Collaborate with Product Dev Managers and technical stakeholders (e.g., Systems Architects) to define new or enhanced requirements and functionality.
- Help prioritize feature enablers in the product roadmap.
- Deliver and maintain user engagement analytics to characterize users and support case studies.
- Write user stories with detailed acceptance criteria; provide continuous feedback/direction through delivery.
- Define sprint plans and refine requirements based on user engagement, sprint showcases, and demos.
- Prepare estimates for backlog user stories.
- Conduct formal review and acceptance of implemented user stories.
- Identify, track, and manage risks; escalate when necessary.
- Identify process improvement opportunities and recommend solutions.
- Design and implement complex data models based on customer application requirements.
- Use TFS, Jira, and GitHub for project management responsibilities.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, IT, or related field.
- 5+ years performing business analysis and refining requirements for information systems.
- Strong written and verbal communication.
- Detail-oriented; experience supporting multiple products concurrently.
- Experience with process-based documentation methods (e.g., use cases, Agile user stories, and process modeling).
- Ability to work remote with East Coast hours as needed.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
Preferred Qualifications
- 1+ year of hands-on Appian solution implementation experience.
