About the role

Role Overview

OpenFX is seeking an API Product Manager to architect and expand its developer-facing API offerings. You will define the strategy and roadmap for APIs that power cross-border payment operations for institutional clients, while ensuring the APIs are both powerful and intuitive.

Responsibilities

Lead API product evolution: expand the API as a product and package offerings into an SDK and best-in-class developer experience.
Strategic planning: define and execute the API product strategy aligned with modernizing cross-border payments.
Roadmap development: create API roadmaps balancing client needs, technical capabilities, and business objectives.
Growth & adoption: identify opportunities to improve developer experience and accelerate API adoption in target markets.
Client discovery: run deep discovery with institutional clients (e.g., remittance companies, neo brokers, payment service providers) to understand integration challenges and requirements.
Cross-functional collaboration: partner with engineering, compliance, and business teams to deliver API solutions that meet business goals.
Developer experience (DX): drive improvements to documentation, testing environments, onboarding flows, and SDK development.
Performance analytics: define success metrics and KPIs for adoption, API performance, and client satisfaction.

Requirements

Must Haves

5+ years of product management experience, including 2+ years focused on API or developer-facing products.
Proven track record launching API products that achieved adoption and revenue goals.
Experience working with institutional clients and their complex integration requirements.
Financial services background, ideally trading/fintech/payments with cross-border payments/FX.
Strong understanding of API design principles, REST services, and modern integration patterns.
Ability to communicate complex technical concepts across audiences (developers to C-suite).

Nice to Haves

Experience with payment rails, regulatory compliance, and multi-currency operations.
Background in software engineering or technical architecture.
Experience at high-growth fintech/payments companies.
Knowledge of emerging payment technologies and distributed ledger systems.
Experience with API monetization strategies and developer ecosystem growth.

Location / Work Model

Remote (USA, UK, or EU) — “Anywhere in the World” with HQ listed as remote for those regions.
