Role Overview

BJAK is hiring an Android Software Engineer to build and ship the native Android experience for insurance and financial services. The role focuses on clean user flows, fast performance, high product quality, and reliable features used by real customers.

Responsibilities

Build and ship Android features using Kotlin
Create clean mobile flows for insurance, payments, claims, renewals, and financial services
Partner with product and design to simplify complex user journeys
Integrate backend APIs and ensure flows are stable, secure, and reliable
Improve app performance, crash rate, loading states, responsiveness, and memory usage
Use analytics and user behavior plus production issue signals to drive improvements
Build AI-assisted mobile experiences only when they genuinely improve the user journey

Requirements

3+ years of Android development with Kotlin
Strong Android fundamentals and experience shipping production apps
Knowledge of Jetpack, Coroutines, Flow, and modern Android architecture
Strong mobile UX/user-flow instincts (edge cases, usability)
Experience integrating REST APIs and debugging production issues
High ownership, fast execution, and strong attention to product quality

Nice to Have

Experience with App Links
Demonstrable shipped work (e.g., GitHub, screenshots, or examples)

Location & Work Setup

Remote, but candidates must be based in the United States
English required
