Android Mobile Software Developer II (Remote or Hybrid)

Role Overview

Android Mobile Software Engineer (II) at Redfin. You’ll work with a team building engaging mobile experiences that help users find their next home, including features for interacting with the home-buying journey on the go.

Work Model / Location

• Hybrid: in-office Tuesdays and Wednesdays in Seattle, San Francisco, or Detroit
• Remote: all other days
• Remote-only consideration for highly qualified candidates who reside outside the three listed areas (must reside outside Seattle/San Francisco/Detroit areas).

Responsibilities

• Design and implement complex technical projects that change how people make major life decisions.
• Collaborate with teammates through code reviews, documentation, refining best practices, and building maintainable/testable codebases.
• Partner with product and design teams to understand user and business needs.
• Drive mobile engineering practices by applying iOS best practices/design principles (as stated in the posting) and bringing in relevant industry trends.
• Use approved AI code generation tools to document, architect, and create code.
• Support production systems as needed via on-call rotation (may include nights/weekends depending on team needs).

Requirements

• 3+ years of development experience
• 2+ years of native Android experience
• Practical experience building Android apps with Kotlin and Java
• Strong understanding of computer science and engineering fundamentals
• Obsess over user experience; collaborate effectively with product/design
• Effective communication and ability to disagree constructively
• Passion for well-architected, clean, well-written code

Nice to Have

• Experience with running experiments and experimentation frameworks
• Experience using AI code generation tools, such as GitHub Copilot, Anthropic Claude Code, Cursor, or similar
