Android Mobile Software Developer II (Remote or Hybrid)

Role Overview

You will join Redfin’s Android mobile engineering team to design and build engaging, high-quality experiences that help users find and manage homes while on the move. The team focuses on both app features and the supporting infrastructure to keep the product fast, stable, and reliable.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement complex, technical projects that improve how users make major real estate decisions.
• Collaborate with teammates through code reviews, documentation, refining best practices, and building maintainable, testable codebases.
• Work closely with product and design teams to understand user and business needs.
• Drive improvements in Android best practices and design principles, incorporating relevant industry trends.
• Use approved AI code generation tools to help document, architect, and create code.
• Participate in on-call rotation (including nights/weekends as needed) to support production reliability.

Requirements

• 3+ years of development experience.
• At least 2 years of native Android experience.
• Practical experience building Android applications in Kotlin and Java.
• Solid understanding of computer science and engineering fundamentals.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills across distances and experience levels.
• Demonstrated obsession with improving user experience and addressing performance bottlenecks.
• Passion for well-architected, clean, well-written code.
• Stay current with developments in the Android community.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience running experiments and using experimentation frameworks (A/B testing).
• Experience with AI code generation tools such as GitHub Copilot, Anthropic Claude Code, Cursor, or similar.

Location / Work Model

• Hybrid: candidates from Seattle, San Francisco, or Detroit offices.
• Remote consideration for highly qualified candidates who reside outside those three areas (still tied to the posting’s geography constraints).
