About the role
Role: Android Engineer (Senior)
Join Whatnot’s Seller Engineering org within the Seller Growth and Inventory teams. You’ll build Android experiences and systems at the core of the seller and buyer journey—helping sellers grow, manage inventory at scale, and ensuring buyer-facing surfaces stay accurate.
What you’ll do
- Develop high-quality Android features using Kotlin and Jetpack Compose.
- Collaborate with product, design, and backend teams to define goals, scope, and technical trade-offs.
- Evolve shared mobile infrastructure and establish best practices across teams.
- Maintain engineering excellence through code reviews, documentation, and high-impact technical discussions.
- Use data and experimentation to guide decisions and improve product outcomes.
What you bring
- 5+ years building and shipping Android applications.
- Strong Android UI skills for fluid, responsive experiences.
- Solid expertise in Kotlin and Jetpack Compose.
- Reactive programming proficiency with Kotlin Coroutines and Flows.
- Experience with MVI or MVVM.
- Product-minded approach focused on quality, performance, usability, and trust.
- Ability to thrive cross-functionally and communicate clearly in ambiguous, fast-changing environments.
- Comfort using SQL, Snowflake, and A/B testing.
- Growth mindset; ownership from concept to launch and ability to mentor others.
Team & work style
- Flexible work from home or one of global office hubs.
- Role requires living within commuting distance of the New York or San Francisco hub.
