Android Engineer

Role overview

As an Android Engineer on Comcast’s Technology and Product Experience (TPX) team, you’ll work with the Connected Living Camera Client Engineering group. The team builds customer-facing mobile applications for Comcast Home Security Camera products, including the native Android Xfinity app.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain Android features focused on camera and video experiences in the Xfinity app
• Collaborate with product, backend, and device teams to deliver end-to-end solutions
• Participate in app architecture and technical decision-making
• Write clean, efficient, maintainable Kotlin following modern Android standards
• Optimize performance, reliability, and user experience
• Debug and resolve production issues to ensure seamless experiences
• Contribute to code reviews, best practices, and continuous improvement
• Stay current with Android technologies and adopt improvements

Requirements

• 5–7 years of professional Android development experience
• Strong proficiency in Kotlin
• Experience integrating RESTful APIs into mobile applications
• Familiarity with MVVM (or similar) architecture patterns
• Strong debugging and problem-solving skills
• Ability to collaborate effectively across cross-functional teams
• Experience building/maintaining large-scale consumer applications (preferred)

Nice to have

• Video playback/streaming technologies: ExoPlayer, HLS, WebRTC, RTSP
• Jetpack Compose
• Understanding of Android permissions, privacy, and app lifecycle
