Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and improve Android mobile applications using modern mobile development practices
• Take ownership of technical initiatives and contribute to technical architecture decisions
• Implement major product enhancements and improvements
• Write clean, maintainable, reliable code with a strong focus on quality and performance
• Work extensively with Kotlin, Java, and the Android framework
• Contribute to an open-source Android codebase and help improve engineering practices
• Collaborate with cross-functional teammates to solve complex technical challenges
• Participate in discussions about product direction, engineering decisions, and UX improvements
• Manage multiple priorities while maintaining technical excellence

Requirements

• 5+ years of professional experience in Android development
• Deep knowledge of Kotlin and Java
• Extensive experience with the Android framework and the mobile application development lifecycle
• Proven experience designing and architecting major new features or enhancements
• Strong software engineering best practices: code quality and maintainable architecture
• Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment
• Strong communication skills and comfort working in a small distributed team
• Ability to quickly contribute to existing codebases and understand complex systems
• Passion for privacy and security
