Android Engineer II (Hinge)

Role Overview

You will be a key member of the Android team, developing and maintaining the Hinge Android application. The work focuses on shipping new product features, resolving issues, and improving the mobile user experience in collaboration with cross-functional partners.

Responsibilities

• Cross-disciplinary collaboration with product managers, designers, technical project managers, backend engineers, data engineers, and QA
• Implement and iterate on product features with a focus on quality and user engagement
• Build with Kotlin and apply Kotlin fundamentals to efficient, effective solutions
• Apply Android development principles and design patterns to create intuitive, user-friendly experiences
• Triage, debug, and resolve software issues to maintain stability and performance
• Steward the codebase: improve long-term health, maintain best practices, and introduce innovations
• Perform code reviews and provide constructive feedback
• Participate in agile ceremonies (stand-ups, planning, retrospectives)
• Communicate clearly and support an inclusive, empowering team environment

Requirements

• 2–4 years of professional Android development experience
• Experience publishing at least one app on the Google Play Store and maintaining a production deployment
• Proficiency in Kotlin (preferred) and solid understanding of the Android SDK/frameworks; Java experience is beneficial
• Strong software engineering fundamentals (efficient, maintainable code)
• Clear communication skills
• Ownership and a quality/user-experience focus
