Android Developer - Shenzhen based

Role: Android Developer (Shenzhen based)

Remote role based in Shenzhen, China, supporting Bragi’s R&D build-up in China.

Tasks / Responsibilities

• Perform requirements analysis across SoC vendor offerings and Bragi feature and mobile library components.
• Identify and close gaps between SoC vendor support and Bragi support (and vice versa).
• Drive Bragi firmware (FW) and Android middleware integration and validation.
• Adapt the Mobile SDK to align with the SoC feature offering and firmware interfaces.
• Develop and implement advanced Android applications and libraries.
• Partner with Product, Design, and QA teams to define, design, and launch new features.
• Evaluate and implement new technologies to improve development efficiency.
• Improve performance, debugging, and refactoring.
• Ensure software robustness via testability.
• Communicate with Bragi’s R&D in Europe to identify blockers and improve documentation/processes for faster time-to-market.
• Design, implement, and improve support processes between China and Europe (documentation and tooling).
• Support ODMs and test engineers through a “Bragi certification program.”

Requirements

• 3+ years of Android development experience.
• Native Mandarin and strong English skills (engineering level) for speaking, reading, and writing.
• Deep knowledge of Java and Kotlin paradigms.
• Solid experience with Bluetooth without relying on third-party libraries.
• Experience with custom Bluetooth protocols without third-party libraries.
• Understanding of architectural models and design patterns.
• Understanding of the full mobile development life cycle.
• Ability to understand business requirements and decompose complex features.

Nice to Have

• Experience with SoC chipsets such as JieLi, WuQi, Actions, Bluetrum, BES, Qualcomm, or Airoha.
• Experience with CI/CD for mobile (e.g., GitLab).
• Unit testing experience; automation testing is a plus.
• Strong communication and ability to drive improvement iterations.
• Knowledge of Reactive programming paradigms.
• Previous experience with wearables or IoT devices.
