About the role

Role Overview

Prolaio is seeking a Mobile Software Engineer (Android Developer) to enhance its mobile application capabilities. You will develop, optimize, and maintain an Android app that interfaces with medical devices to collect and upload data for analysis. You will report to the Lead Mobile Engineer and collaborate with backend engineers, data scientists, and product teams.

Responsibilities

Mobile development: Design, develop, and maintain mobile applications using Kotlin and related technologies.
Algorithm integration: Work with backend teams to integrate state-of-the-art algorithms into the mobile app and deliver strong user experiences.
Performance optimization: Improve app performance (efficiency, reusability, responsiveness) across many Android devices.
API integration: Integrate RESTful APIs between the mobile app and backend services.
Testing & automation: Create unit tests and UI automation using tools such as Espresso, UI Automator, JUnit, and Appium.
Cross-functional collaboration: Align mobile solutions with data science and product needs.
Problem solving: Tackle complex technical challenges and contribute to continuous improvement.

Requirements

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.
Experience: 3–5 years as a Mobile Software Engineer / Android Engineer or similar.
Kotlin: Strong Android development experience with Kotlin.
Architecture: Knowledge of MVP, MVVM, or MVC patterns.
Testing: Experience with unit testing and UI automation (Espresso, UI Automator, JUnit, Appium).
APIs: Experience integrating RESTful APIs into mobile apps.
Additional tools/libraries: Proficiency with Jetpack Compose, Firebase, and ktor.
Skills: Strong communication, collaboration, and problem-solving.
Work style: Ability to work effectively in a remote-first/distributed environment.
Language: Fluent English.

Nice to Have

Kotlin Multiplatform experience (Android + iOS).
BLE (Bluetooth Low Energy) device experience.
CI/CD automation experience (listed but truncated in the posting).
