Role Overview

GrabJobs is seeking a Senior Android Software Engineer to own the development and enhancement of its Android applications. The role focuses on delivering exceptional performance, security, and user experience while driving the technical roadmap for mobile solutions.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain native Android applications using Kotlin, including leading features for the Identifi biometrics product.
• Own the full development lifecycle from concept through deployment and ongoing support, ensuring code quality, scalability, and security.
• Maintain and enhance the Human Systems suite of ATAK plugins and integrations with core products to ensure interoperability.
• Collaborate with SDK vendors to integrate new functionality and improve existing features.
• Act as the Android subject matter expert, providing guidance, troubleshooting, and resolving Android-specific challenges.
• Advocate for superior UX, security, and performance across mobile applications.
• Drive engineering quality through architecture design, code reviews, and collaborative development practices.
• Support business operations by troubleshooting technical issues and advising mission success teams.

Requirements

• 8+ years of professional experience in Android development.
• Strong native Android tooling experience.
• Essential: proficiency in Kotlin and Java.
• Proven track record building and maintaining high-traffic mobile applications.
• Understanding of cryptographic principles and security best practices to protect user data.
• Ability to work independently in a fully remote setting with a growth mindset.

Nice to Have / Preferred

• Experience contributing to or leveraging open-source projects.
• Startup experience.
• Familiarity with ATAK plugins, SDK development, and biometrics standards such as EBTS.
• Exposure to public safety/defense-related applications.
• Knowledge of IPC/RPC frameworks like gRPC.
• Exposure to Ruby, C++, C#, and Python.
