About the role
Role Overview
Join OnePay as an Analytics Engineer to own the organization’s analytics foundation and deliver high-impact analytics engineering work. This is a senior individual contributor role focused on technical leadership, shipping quality work, and raising engineering standards.
Key Missions
- Own OnePay’s analytics foundation, including dbt models, testing, and Databricks BI.
- Design and build production dbt models on Databricks that act as the source of truth.
- Lead technically through code reviews, architecture discussions, and mentoring junior analytics engineers.
- Support external reporting and ensure ongoing data quality.
Responsibilities
- Build and maintain production-grade dbt assets (models, tests, macros).
- Implement data quality practices and unblock the wider analytics/data team.
- Execute effectively in ambiguity and ship iteratively at startup pace.
Requirements
- Expert SQL and deep dbt experience (architecture, incremental models, tests, macros, CI/CD).
- Strong delivery experience with Databricks BI (or an equivalent semantic layer).
- Clear communication across technical and non-technical audiences.
- Owner mentality: identify issues, fix them, and raise the bar.
- 5+ years in analytics engineering (production models end-to-end, not just ad hoc analysis).
- AI-savvy in practice: use AI coding tools daily, validate outputs rigorously, and design data for both humans and agents.
Nice to Have
- Fintech/regulated data experience.
- Python automation.
- Databricks plus additional tooling like GitLab/MR workflows.
- Prior tech-lead or lead/senior IC experience on a lean data team.
