About the role
Role Overview
Alma is hiring an Analytics Engineer II to build and maintain information systems that collect, standardize, and transform raw data for analysis across the company. The role focuses on making data accessible and reliable so analysts and stakeholders can evaluate and run the business effectively.
Responsibilities
- Build data models and queries to transform data into standardized formats for business analytics.
- Maintain and improve data pipeline architecture.
- Monitor and troubleshoot data quality, reliability, and performance across the data lifecycle.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to define requirements and implement robust ingestion processes for diverse internal/external sources.
- Implement data governance best practices and ensure compliance with data policies.
- Work with the data team and cross-team stakeholders to assess priorities and needs.
Requirements
- 3+ years of progressive experience in data engineering or analytics engineering.
- Strong experience building and optimizing data pipelines and data warehouses.
- Advanced SQL skills, including writing complex, performant queries and optimization in a warehouse (e.g., Redshift).
- Solid understanding of data warehousing and business intelligence tooling.
- Enjoys data exploration, with strong technical skills in data transformation and data modeling.
- Some experience with Python.
- Passion for Alma’s mission to improve therapy access and provider/client experience.
Nice to Have
- dbt experience (highly desirable).
- Familiarity with BI tools such as Looker or Metabase.

- Python, SQL, Redshift, dbt, Singer.io (also mentions familiarity with Stitch, Lightdash, Metabase).
