About the role

Role overview

HaloMD is seeking an Analytics / Reporting Engineer to join its Enterprise Reporting team. You will build and maintain the data pipelines, dashboards, and reporting infrastructure that enable decision-making across healthcare claims, arbitration, and dispute resolution workflows.

Responsibilities

  • Build reporting pipelines with dbt and Snowflake, transforming raw claims and operational data into clean, modeled datasets
  • Develop dashboards and reports in Power BI and Omni, turning business questions into clear visual insights
  • Write performant SQL across Snowflake and SQL Server (including CTEs, window functions, and set-based logic)
  • Partner with finance, operations, and compliance to define metrics, build scorecards, and deliver ad-hoc analyses
  • Own data quality via tests, validations, and monitoring to prevent downstream issues
  • Document data models, business logic, and metric definitions to reduce tribal knowledge
  • Help evolve the analytics stack and engineering practices

Requirements

  • 3+ years in analytics engineering, BI development, or a similar data-focused role
  • Strong SQL skills (complex queries without relying on cursors/temp tables)
  • Hands-on Snowflake experience (warehousing, performance tuning, schema design)
  • Experience building and maintaining dbt models (staging/intermediate/marts, tests, and documentation)
  • Proficiency with Power BI (modeling, DAX measures, report design, publishing)
  • Experience with Omni or similar BI/semantic layer tools
  • Comfort with healthcare data concepts (e.g., claims, CPT codes, payer/provider relationships) or ability to learn quickly
  • Ability to communicate insights clearly to non-technical stakeholders

Preferred / nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Claude (Anthropic) for analytics acceleration (prompt engineering, code generation, document analysis, AI-augmented reporting)
  • Familiarity with MCP (Model Context Protocol) integrations / AI-assisted development environments
  • Background in healthcare dispute resolution, arbitration, or insurance claims processing
  • Experience with Azure DevOps (version control, project management)
  • Exposure to Python for transformation/automation/scripting
  • Understanding of revenue cycle, regulatory reporting, or compliance analytics

Tech environment (from the posting)

  • Snowflake data warehouse (CORE.REPORTING schema and related layers)
  • SQL Server databases (multiple environments)
  • dbt modeling (Cloud or Core)
  • Power BI and Omni for BI/semantic layer
  • AI tooling: Claude Desktop, Claude Code, MCP integrations
  • Azure DevOps for project management/version control
  • Domain: No Surprises Act (NSA) and Independent Dispute Resolution (IDR)
