Analytics Engineer

Join Amplify, a leading education technology company, as an Analytics Engineer. In this role, you will work with a talented team to tackle tough problems in education using the best ideas in technology. You will be responsible for ingesting, transforming, modeling, and aggregating data to empower teams across Amplify and our customers. You will collaborate with data scientists, data analysts, and data engineers to provide clean, accurate, and reliable models and metrics for our products and internal business partners. Additionally, you will help school administrators build great schools by providing useful insights while respecting privacy and ensuring security. Key missions: Ingest, transform, model, and aggregate data to empower teams across Amplify and customers.. Collaborate with data scientists, data analysts, and data engineers to provide clean, accurate, reliable models and metrics.. Build analytical models that drive the design cycle for apps, helping students understand their progress. Profile: - Proven fluency in SQL and its use in code-based ETL frameworks preferably dbt - Understanding of ETL/ELT pipelines, analytical data modeling, aggregations, and metrics - Experience working with Looker for explore and dashboards - Strong understanding of analytical modeling architectures, including the Kimball dimensional data model design - 3+ years of professional software development or data engineering experience - BS in Computer Science, Data Science, or equivalent experience - Ability to clearly communicate and present technical concepts to a broad audience both verbally and in written form - Strong computer, data, and analytics engineering fundamentals - Fluency in a development language such as Python - Familiarity with metadata management tools such as Atlan - Experience building dashboards, reports, and models in business intelligence tools such as Tableau or Looker - Experience with tools we use every day: - Storage: Snowflake, AWS Storage Services/DBs (S3, RDS, Glacier, DynamoDB) and Postgres - ETL/ELT: Airflow, dbt, Fivetran - BI: Looker - Experience with tools we don’t use, but should - Proven passion and talent for teaching fellow engineers and non-engineers - Proven passion for building and learning: open source contributions, stretch goals and projects, and self-education - Experience in recommending standards and practice to streamline the pipeline processes - Experience in education or ed-tech - Experience using LLMs for dev work like claude or co-pilot
