About the role
Role Overview
Chainguard is hiring an AI Solutions Engineer for a hands-on role to identify high-leverage AI opportunities, prototype and validate use cases, and work closely with cross-functional teams.
Key Missions
- Identify and prioritize workflows where AI can deliver significant impact, improving revenue or operational efficiency.
- Take prioritized use cases from idea to working prototype, including:
- internal workflow automations
- reusable prompt systems
- AI-enabled tools
- Collaborate with functional owners, the AI Enablement Council, and AI Ambassadors to validate opportunities and build the business case for investment.
Responsibilities
- Build internal workflow automations and AI-enabled tools.
- Create early integrations across SaaS systems and internal workflows.
- Ensure responsible AI use and strong data hygiene.
- Translate ambiguous needs into shippable prototypes and drive execution independently.
Requirements
- Programming proficiency in at least one language, with preference for Go and/or Python.
- 4+ years building software, automation, or internal tooling.
- Ability to wire together APIs, automations, and integrations across SaaS (e.g., Slack, Google Workspace, GitHub, Linear).
- Experience using AI tooling in real work (e.g., Claude Code, Copilot, Cursor).
- Hands-on experience building on LLM APIs, including:
- tool/function calling, agents
- prompt and context engineering
- RAG
- patterns like MCP
- Experience building agent skills, MCP servers, and/or orchestration/automation frameworks.
- Comfortable communicating with non-technical stakeholders, scoping problems, sizing impact, and prioritizing by feasibility.
- Strong English communication and autonomy in a remote, globally distributed team.
- Responsible-use mindset aligned with security/legal/data-handling guardrails.
Nice-to-Haves
- Interest in software supply chain security, secure SDLC, or responsible AI governance.
- Active involvement in open source.
- Cross-functional background in solutions engineering, internal consulting, or forward-deployed/applied roles.
- Track record of turning workflow ideas into tools teams adopt.
