About the role
Role overview
The AI Solutions Architect will join Qcells North America’s Grid & Energy Services team to architect and scale an agentic AI foundation for intelligent energy products. The platform will enable development teams to build, deploy, and govern production-grade AI agents across energy management, DER, VPP, solar, and data center solutions, centered on Microsoft Azure AI Foundry.
Responsibilities
- Architect and build the organization’s agentic AI framework on Microsoft Azure AI Foundry, including:
- Reference architecture
- Reusable SDKs
- Templates
- Shared services for rapid AI application development and deployment
- Define agent development patterns and capabilities, including:
- Tool integration and function calling
- Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG)
- Memory and planning workflows
- Multi-agent orchestration
- Human-in-the-loop interactions
- Own foundational platform services for all AI agents:
- Model routing
- Prompt and policy management
- Observability, tracing, and evaluation frameworks
- Content safety
- Cost optimization
- Evaluate and integrate Azure AI Foundry services such as:
- Foundry Agent Service
- AI Search
- Prompt Flow
- AutoGen
- Lead technical adoption by partnering with engineering and application teams, including agent design reviews and integration problem solving.
- Create and maintain reference architectures, golden-path templates, and engineering standards for production readiness (grounding, evaluation, guardrails, reliability, safe autonomy).
- Drive responsible AI and governance, including:
- Testing strategies and monitoring
- Red-team exercises
- Operational controls and rollback mechanisms
- Produce technical documentation, architecture diagrams, enablement materials, and mentor engineers on agentic AI principles and best practices.
Required qualifications
- 8+ years in software architecture, platform engineering, or senior technical leadership with recent hands-on experience building and deploying production AI/agentic systems.
- Enterprise-scale expertise on Microsoft Azure (compute, networking, identity, security, data platforms, and cost optimization).
- Strong cloud-native architecture fundamentals: microservices, event-driven systems, API-first development.
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code using Bicep/Terraform and CI/CD pipelines.
- Hands-on experience with Azure AI Foundry and related capabilities, including Azure OpenAI, Foundry Agent Service, AI Search, Prompt Flow, evaluation frameworks, and content safety.
Location / work arrangement
- Remote, with an expectation to relocate at their own expense to the company’s Houston onsite location by Q1 2027 (approximate and may change).
