About the role

Role overview

The Senior AI Product Owner owns AI initiatives end-to-end for a claims processing domain. You will partner with business and operational stakeholders to identify AI-enabled improvements, define measurable objectives, and translate them into sprint-ready execution plans in an Agile delivery environment.

Responsibilities

  • Work with claims leadership, operational managers, and Business Transformation Leads to understand:
    • Workflow bottlenecks and leakage drivers
    • Customer friction points
    • Regulatory risks and client performance commitments
  • Translate insights into AI use cases with measurable operational outcomes, such as:
    • Reduced claim cycle time
    • Improved reserving accuracy
    • Enhanced fraud detection rates
    • Faster document processing
  • Break down initiatives into epics and features aligned to real operational workflows, including:
    • System integrations
    • Adjuster behavior
    • Client reporting requirements
    • Compliance obligations
  • Collaborate with AI engineers and data scientists to validate feasibility, data availability, explainability needs, and downstream operational impact
  • Own and continuously refine the product backlog, prioritizing based on business value and enterprise AI portfolio constraints
  • Write user stories with detailed acceptance criteria grounded in actual claims scenarios
  • During sprint execution:
    • Stay closely engaged to clarify claims-process nuances, regulatory rules, and client-specific variations
    • Validate models/automation/decision-support tools work correctly within the claims workflow
  • Communicate progress, risks, and trade-offs to LOB stakeholders
  • After deployment:
    • Monitor adoption and operational metrics
    • Incorporate user feedback
    • Adjust backlog priorities based on measurable real-world impact

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in information management, computer science, or related technology field
  • Minimum 5 years experience in a Product Owner/Manager role within insurance, claims, or managed services
  • Strong understanding of Artificial Intelligence with experience in claims operations, adjuster workflows, or insurance servicing models
  • Experience delivering in Agile environments
  • Ability to translate operational pain points into structured technical requirements
  • Strong stakeholder communication skills across business and technical audiences

Nice to have (implied)

  • Experience with explainability considerations for AI/ML in operational settings
