AI/ML Engineer

Role Overview

You will be an AI/ML Engineer within a Legal Operations engineering group, building production-grade AI/ML solutions and backend microservices that support legal domain workflows. The position is remote (Bay Area, CA) and emphasizes strong backend engineering plus hands-on AI/ML applied in real systems.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain production-quality software systems for AI/ML-powered legal operations workflows.
• Build microservices and backend components using Python, Hack, or PHP.
• Implement AI engineering workflows: data processing, model integration, and deployment pipelines.
• Collaborate with ML/AI engineers, legal domain experts, and cross-functional partners to translate requirements into solutions.
• Integrate models into client infrastructure and optimize for scalability, latency, and reliability.
• Participate in architectural decisions, code reviews, documentation, and engineering best practices.
• Quickly learn client-specific tools/platforms/infrastructure needed for model deployment.
• Ensure code quality, test coverage, and adherence to security, privacy, and compliance needs for legal systems.

Requirements (Minimum)

• BS/MS in Computer Science/Engineering or related field, or equivalent experience.
• Strong backend software engineering experience.
• Proficiency in at least one of: Python, Hack, PHP.
• Experience building microservices or distributed backend systems.
• Hands-on experience using AI/ML in production or applied contexts.
• Solid understanding of data structures, algorithms, and software design.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment and learn new tools quickly.
