About the role
Role Overview
Handshake is seeking AI & Machine Learning researchers to support AI research through flexible, hourly contract work. You will use your academic and research expertise to evaluate AI-generated responses and provide feedback that helps improve AI understanding of cutting-edge CS and AI/ML research methods.
What You’ll Do
- Create expert-level training data using your research background
- Evaluate AI-generated responses for accuracy and relevance
- Provide detailed feedback to support improved AI performance on CS/AI research topics
Qualifications
- PhD in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence, or a related field from a top 100 US university
- Research background in one or more areas such as:
- Machine Learning / Artificial Intelligence
- Computer Vision and/or Natural Language Processing
- Neural and Evolutionary Computing
- Robotics, Systems and Control, or Multiagent Systems
- Familiarity with arXiv (arxiv.org), especially the Computer Science (cs) repository
- Strong written communication, attention to detail, and ability to work independently and asynchronously with AI research teams
Scheduling & Logistics
- Fully remote
- Flexible, asynchronous schedule with no minimum hours
- Most active contributors work approximately 5–20 hours/week
- Placement depends on current project needs; future opportunities may be available

The opportunity emphasizes research expertise to create high-quality training data and improve AI systems’ understanding of advanced CS and AI/ML methodologies. This is an ongoing, remote, hourly-contracted collaboration model.
