Role: AI Engineer II (Remote)

Sezzle’s Applied AI team is seeking an AI Engineer II to take end-to-end ownership of AI-driven platforms and systems that power AI capabilities across customer-facing and internal workflows.

Responsibilities

• Lead design, development, and ownership of AI-powered internal platforms and systems (including greenfield initiatives).
• Own end-to-end delivery from problem discovery and system design through production rollout and iteration.
• Build and deploy AI-driven features, intelligent automation, and orchestration systems to improve customer experience and team productivity.
• Embed AI into customer-facing products, internal tools, and operational workflows with measurable business impact.
• Build full-stack systems including backend services, APIs, data layers, and frontend interfaces.
• Convert ambiguous business/operational problems into scalable, maintainable AI solutions.
• Ensure reliability, performance, security, permissions, and auditability across platforms.
• Collaborate with product, engineering, and operations to identify high-impact opportunities and drive adoption.
• Participate in production support and incident response for owned systems.
• Mentor team members via code reviews, design feedback, and hands-on guidance.

Requirements

• 3–5 years of professional experience in software engineering, AI engineering, platform engineering, or related roles.
• Hands-on experience designing, building, and shipping AI-powered systems into production.
• Strong proficiency in Python, SQL, and frontend frameworks such as React.
• Experience with production-grade systems ownership (reliability-focused delivery).

• Experience designing AI systems for ambiguous problem spaces and translating them into robust architectures.
• Demonstrated systems thinking around security, permissions, and auditability.
