About the role
Role Overview
Certified Scrum Master supporting USPS Finance and Payment Technology Services (FPTS). The role focuses on helping development and testing teams deliver data-intensive applications aligned with IT architecture and business requirements.
Responsibilities
- Lead and facilitate Agile/Scrum ceremonies and help guide development and testing teams
- Manage the full Scrum process, including maintaining Scrum artifacts and Scrum tools
- Oversee work tracking and release management
- Support USPS management with change management efforts
- Identify opportunities to improve processes and recommend/take action
- Participate in application testing and USPS SDLC tasks (e.g., defect fixes, vulnerability remediation, quality improvements)
- Support application delivery from assignment through implementation
Key Applications
- PAYROLL: a COBOL mainframe system hosted on-site
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree with 5–8 years of experience, or 4 additional years of relevant work experience if no degree
- US citizenship required to obtain/maintain USPS Public Trust security clearance
- Strong communication, organization, time management, project management, risk management, problem solving, adaptability, and teamwork
Preferred Skills
- Deep knowledge of software development lifecycle and testing methodologies
- Experience with DevOps and Agile methods to improve collaboration and software testing/development
- Experience using VersionOne (or similar work management tools)
- Strong understanding of SDLC and operating systems
- Ability to troubleshoot payroll calculation discrepancies (system bug vs input error)
- Experience collaborating with stakeholders, Solutions Architects, Product Owner, managers, and developers
- DevSecOps / Agile / Scrum familiarity
- Knowledge of SDLC practices, payroll systems & processing; mainframe knowledge is a plus
