About the role

Role Overview

Agile Coach (Remote) responsible for coaching entire organizations and multi-team programs to improve delivery outcomes. You will act as a trusted advisor to engineering leadership, using data to assess delivery health and drive measurable transformation.

Responsibilities

  • Coach multi-team agile transformation programs with measurable milestones
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to engineering leadership with candid, data-backed input on delivery health
  • Design ADO structure for multi-team environments:
    • area paths and team configurations
    • cross-team dependency tracking
    • portfolio-level visibility
  • Implement agile practices at scale, including:
    • organization-wide retrospectives
    • cross-team sprint synchronization
    • area/product ownership
    • self-selection processes
  • Lead without authority by influencing:
    • vendor teams
    • internal teams
    • organizational structures
  • Build and implement a comprehensive metrics framework, including:
    • Flow and stability metrics
    • DORA metrics
    • quality and backlog health
  • Shift culture from output-focused to outcome-focused, and sustain the change
  • Facilitate difficult organizational conversations (e.g., PMO vs Engineering, vendors vs Product, teams vs leadership)
  • Build Scrum Master (SM) capability in others:
    • mentor junior and mid-level SMs
    • identify gaps and provide structured coaching

Requirements (What We Are Specifically Looking For)

  • Scaled agile transformation experience: actual operation/implementation across organizations/programs
  • DORA metrics literacy (explain and improve):
    • deployment frequency
    • change failure rate
    • lead time for changes
    • MTTR
  • Ability to challenge and change organizational structures that block team effectiveness
  • Evidence of building and sustaining psychological safety in previously defensive/siloed teams
  • Ability to run executive-level conversations using delivery data (focus on analysis, constraint discovery—not status updates)

Standards Expected at This Level

  • Operates across multiple teams simultaneously with full situational awareness
  • Produces a quarterly maturity assessment per team with trend data and forward plan
  • Drives DORA metric baseline improvements (deployment frequency, change failure rate, MTTR tracked and improving)
  • Owns and drives resolution of cross-team impediments (not just logging them)
  • Contributes to the engineering standards playbook
  • Runs structured capability reviews for junior and mid-level SMs under oversight
