Role overview
The Aerospace Product Manager / Lead Auditor is responsible for all aspects of SGS North America’s ANAB-accredited Aerospace program, ensuring compliance with AS9104 and ISO/IEC 17021 requirements. The role is 100% remote and combines program leadership, audit execution, and supporting aerospace business development and customer experience.
Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the North America (NAM) Aerospace program and accreditation functions to meet technical KPIs and accreditation requirements.
- Perform and support AS auditing activities as an AS Lead Auditor (including AS9100 and AS9120 audits).
- Collaborate with NAM business teams to:
- improve customer services and internal/external processes for efficiency
- anticipate and resolve certification-related conflicts
- support handling and resolution of client complaints
- Drive auditor calibration to the Aerospace standard to enhance brand and client experience.
- Support business development by:
- tracking AS market trends
- creating technical content (e.g., white papers)
- speaking at industry events (webinars, conferences)
- representing SGS at key AS association meetings
- supporting sector marketing activities
- Review and action applicable IAQG Resolutions, maintaining a resolutions log.
- Monitor auditor performance metrics such as audit package turnaround time.
- Review/assign audit packs for technical review and ensure timely completion.
- Manage NCRs (Nonconformity Reports) workflow:
- review and approve/reject Aerospace client NCR submissions
- ensure resolution prior to certificate decisions
- own actions for all NCRs issued via office or witness audits
- Address OASIS feedback notices (e.g., client transfers, Boeing, DCMA requests).
- Provide internal audit of the Aerospace program and applicable NCRs.
- Provide guidance to AS auditors in the field, including updates on program changes and interpretations.
- Review aerospace client proposal (PWS) documents post-SGS audit to prepare for scope changes (site/employee counts/structure).
- Attend quarterly Registration Management Committee meetings (Americas Aerospace Quality Group).
- Partner with the VP of Industrial and Mobility on business development initiatives.
- Maintain and improve the auditor resource pool and credentials; conduct training for:
- auditors
- sales & operations on AS Product (e.g., PWS preparation, ANAB witness/office audits, related processes).
- Conduct level one audits as needed to support operational and accreditation requirements.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in science, engineering, or a relevant discipline.
- Certified Aerospace industry experienced Lead Auditor for AS9100 and AS9120.
- Direct experience in one or more areas such as Engineering, Design, Manufacturing, Quality, or Process Control for the aerospace industry (major airframe/airline context implied).

- Ability to produce technical thought leadership (e.g., white papers) and represent the company at industry events.
