About the role
Role Overview
Pearson Virtual Schools is seeking an Advanced UX Researcher to lead end-to-end user research that informs product strategy and improves customer experiences across Pearson’s AI-powered learning platforms.
You will partner with Product Management, UX Design, Engineering, Data Analytics, and business stakeholders to reduce uncertainty and enable data-backed decisions through mixed-method research.
Responsibilities
- Lead user research using skilled interviewing techniques to uncover underlying needs and reduce customer/user bias.
- Design, execute, and synthesize primary research studies; translate findings into clear insights and recommendations.
- Establish and maintain research agendas/roadmaps with Product teams.
- Develop research questions/objectives aligned to business strategy and critical knowledge gaps.
- Select and run appropriate qualitative and quantitative methods; maintain touchpoints with cross-functional partners.
- Apply expertise in human behavior and human factors to analyze research data and produce actionable outputs.
- Influence product strategy by advocating for user-centered decisions and demonstrating research value/impact.
- Present findings and recommendations to senior leadership with executive clarity.
- Conduct market research and competitive analysis to identify trends, gaps, and opportunities.
- Ensure research recruitment and data collection account for regulatory, compliance, and privacy requirements (consent, trust).
- Improve research operations with strong rigor and storytelling, and foster collaboration and continuous improvement.
- Use AI tools to scale research efforts, streamline workflows, and synthesize insights across data sources.
Requirements
- 5+ years of proven success leading UX/user research projects with demonstrated impact.
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., HCI, Psychology, Human Factors, Social Sciences) or equivalent experience; Master’s preferred.
- Strong command of qualitative and quantitative methods and when to use each.
- Work samples (e.g., research plans, reports, presentations).
- Familiarity with research/design tools (e.g., usertesting.com, survey/testing platforms, repositories, Figma).
- Experience collaborating across product development teams (UX Design, Product Management, Engineering, Analytics).
- Excellent time management and detail orientation; ability to handle multiple workstreams and adapt to shifting priorities.
Remote/Location
- Remote (US) with occasional travel for in-person collaboration with colleagues and customers.
