About the role
Role Overview
Pearson Virtual Schools is seeking an Advanced UX Researcher to lead end-to-end user research that informs product strategy and improves customer experiences across Pearson’s AI-powered learning platforms. You will partner with Product Management, UX Design, Engineering, Data Analytics, and business stakeholders to generate data-backed insights, reduce uncertainty, and guide roadmap and investment decisions.
Responsibilities
- Use strong understanding of human behavior and customer bias to uncover underlying needs via skilled interviewing.
- Recruit and work with educators, students, and parents, ensuring consent, privacy, and trust are handled responsibly.
- Use AI tools to scale research, streamline workflows, and synthesize insights across diverse data sources.
- Partner with Product to define and maintain research agendas and roadmaps.
- Develop research questions and objectives aligned to business strategy and key knowledge gaps.
- Select and execute qualitative and quantitative research methods; maintain effective touchpoints with cross-functional partners.
- Analyze and synthesize findings into clear, actionable insights that address research objectives.
- Influence product strategy by advocating for user-centered decisions; communicate value and impact of research.
- Present findings and recommendations to senior leadership with executive presence.
- Conduct market research and competitive analysis to identify trends and opportunities.
- Ensure regulatory/compliance/privacy considerations are addressed during recruitment and data collection.
- Contribute to continuous improvement in research operations through rigor and storytelling.
Requirements
- 5+ years proven success leading user research projects with demonstrated impact.
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., HCI, Psychology, Human Factors, Social Sciences) or equivalent experience (Master’s preferred).
- Strong command of qualitative and quantitative research methods.
- Work samples demonstrating research deliverables (e.g., research plans, reports, presentations).
- Familiarity with research/design tools (e.g., UserTesting.com, survey platforms, testing tools, repositories, Figma).
- Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams (UX Design, Product Management, Engineering, Analytics).
- Excellent time management, high attention to detail, comfort across multiple workstreams and changing priorities.

- Primarily remote with occasional travel for in-person collaboration with colleagues and customers.
