Role overview
Pearson Virtual Schools is seeking an Advanced UX Researcher (User Experience Researcher) to lead end-to-end user research that informs product strategy and improves customer experiences across Pearson’s AI-powered learning platforms.
This is a primarily remote role with occasional travel for in-person collaboration with colleagues and customers.
Responsibilities
- Lead research to understand user mindsets, behaviors, and customer bias using skilled interviewing techniques.
- Recruit educators, students, and parents with care around consent, privacy, and trust.
- Use AI tools to scale research efforts, streamline workflows, and synthesize insights across data sources.
- Partner with Product teams to define and maintain research agendas and roadmaps.
- Define research questions and objectives aligned to business strategy and critical knowledge gaps.
- Select and run appropriate qualitative and quantitative methods; execute high-quality studies.
- Analyze and synthesize findings using human behavior / human factors expertise; produce actionable insights.
- Influence product strategy by advocating for user-centered decisions and clarifying research value/impact.
- Present findings and recommendations to senior leadership with executive presence.
- Conduct market research and competitive analysis to identify trends, gaps, and opportunities.
- Ensure regulatory, compliance, and privacy considerations are applied during recruitment and data collection.
- Promote collaboration, shared ownership, and continuous improvement in research operations.
Requirements
- 5+ years proven success leading user research projects with measurable impact.
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field (HCI, Psychology, Human Factors, Social Sciences, etc.) or equivalent experience (Master’s preferred).
- Strong command of qualitative and quantitative research methods, including knowing when to use each.
- Ability to provide work samples (e.g., research plans, reports, presentations).
- Familiarity with common research/tools and workflow practices (e.g., usertesting.com, survey tools, testing tools, repositories, Figma).
- Experience collaborating cross-functionally with UX Design, Product Management, Engineering, and Analytics.
- Excellent time management, strong attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple workstreams and shifting priorities.
