About the role
Role Overview
Pearson Virtual Schools is seeking an Advanced UX Researcher to lead end-to-end user research that informs product strategy and improves customer experiences across Pearson’s AI-powered learning platforms. You will partner with Product Management, UX Design, Engineering, Data Analytics, and business stakeholders to reduce uncertainty and enable data-backed decisions.
Responsibilities
- Lead research using mixed-method approaches to identify learning goals, uncover underlying user needs, and inform product decisions.
- Recruit educators, students, and parents responsibly, with care for consent, privacy, and trust.
- Use AI tools to scale research efforts, streamline workflows, and synthesize insights across diverse data sources.
- Define and maintain research agendas/roadmaps in partnership with product teams.
- Formulate research questions aligned to business strategy and ensure research addresses key knowledge gaps.
- Select and execute appropriate qualitative and quantitative research methods; maintain effective cross-functional touchpoints.
- Analyze and synthesize findings using expertise in human behavior and human factors, producing clear, actionable insights.
- Influence product strategy by advocating for user-centered decisions and communicating research value.
- Present findings and recommendations to senior leadership with executive clarity and confidence.
- Conduct market research and competitive analysis to identify trends, gaps, and opportunities.
- Ensure regulatory, compliance, and privacy considerations are included in recruitment and data collection.
- Help foster collaboration, shared ownership, and continuous improvement across teams.
Requirements
- 5+ years proven success leading user research projects with demonstrable impact.
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (HCI, Psychology, Human Factors, Social Sciences, etc.) or equivalent experience; Master’s preferred.
- Strong command of qualitative and quantitative methods, including knowing when to use each.
- Work samples showing research deliverables (e.g., plans, reports, presentations).
- Familiarity with research/design tools (e.g., UserTesting.com, survey tools, testing tools, repositories, Figma).
- Experience collaborating cross-functionally with UX Design, Product Management, Engineering, and Analytics.
- Excellent time management, strong attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple workstreams and shifting priorities.
Location/Work Model
- Primarily remote (US Remote) with occasional travel for in-person collaboration with colleagues and customers.
