About the role

Accounting Associate (Finance Team)

Reporting to the Finance Director, the Accounting Associate supports day-to-day accounting operations and ensures transactions are recorded accurately and on time.

Responsibilities

  • Accounts Receivable (A/R)
    • Invoice clients daily and monthly
    • Monitor and report on payment status; post payments upon receipt
    • Record and reconcile non-electronic deposits
    • Drive collection via reminders and escalation for nonpayment
    • Research billing questions and resolve discrepancies
  • Accounts Payable (A/P)
    • Onboard new vendors into Ramp
    • Review invoices for approvals and general ledger coding
    • Maintain vendor records and resolve vendor inquiries
    • Reconcile vendor statements and research discrepancies
    • Monitor outstanding payables and ensure timely payments
    • Submit 1099s to the IRS timely and accurately
  • Payroll & General Accounting
    • Post payroll reports to the general ledger, including allocation by class
    • Support month-end close by reconciling bank and credit card accounts and preparing journal entries
    • Maintain the general ledger for revenue, expenditures, and paid media spend
    • Monitor an accounting/finance email inbox and respond/escalate issues
    • Prepare financial information for reporting and tax filings
    • Collaborate on the annual budget creation and tracking
    • Update fiscal policies and procedures
    • Reconcile paid media balances and prepare refund requests
  • Other
    • Conduct transaction research
    • Support ad hoc financial reporting
    • Identify process improvements to increase accounting efficiency

Requirements

  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail and precision
  • Ability to handle confidential/sensitive information professionally
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently
  • Strong prioritization and deadline management
  • Experience in a startup/growth environment preferred

Work Arrangement

  • Remote, full-time
  • Occasional travel for in-person events and workshops
  • May require work outside standard business hours (e.g., board meetings/events)
