About the role
Accounting Associate (Finance Team)
Reporting to the Finance Director, the Accounting Associate supports day-to-day accounting operations and ensures transactions are recorded accurately and on time.
Responsibilities
- Accounts Receivable (A/R)
- Invoice clients daily and monthly
- Monitor and report on payment status; post payments upon receipt
- Record and reconcile non-electronic deposits
- Drive collection via reminders and escalation for nonpayment
- Research billing questions and resolve discrepancies
- Accounts Payable (A/P)
- Onboard new vendors into Ramp
- Review invoices for approvals and general ledger coding
- Maintain vendor records and resolve vendor inquiries
- Reconcile vendor statements and research discrepancies
- Monitor outstanding payables and ensure timely payments
- Submit 1099s to the IRS timely and accurately
- Payroll & General Accounting
- Post payroll reports to the general ledger, including allocation by class
- Support month-end close by reconciling bank and credit card accounts and preparing journal entries
- Maintain the general ledger for revenue, expenditures, and paid media spend
- Monitor an accounting/finance email inbox and respond/escalate issues
- Prepare financial information for reporting and tax filings
- Collaborate on the annual budget creation and tracking
- Update fiscal policies and procedures
- Reconcile paid media balances and prepare refund requests
- Other
- Conduct transaction research
- Support ad hoc financial reporting
- Identify process improvements to increase accounting efficiency
Requirements
- Highly organized with strong attention to detail and precision
- Ability to handle confidential/sensitive information professionally
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to work independently
- Strong prioritization and deadline management
- Experience in a startup/growth environment preferred
Work Arrangement
- Remote, full-time
- Occasional travel for in-person events and workshops
- May require work outside standard business hours (e.g., board meetings/events)
