Wordpress Developer

Role Overview

Remote WordPress Developer position (3-month contract to hire) focused on building modern, high-performance websites and web applications. You'll create responsive, accessible user interfaces while collaborating with designers and developers in a fast-moving environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop engaging user interfaces for web applications and websites
• Translate UI/UX design files into responsive, interactive digital experiences
• Build reusable and scalable front-end components and code
• Architect and develop custom WordPress themes and plugins
• Optimize performance, speed, and accessibility across browsers and devices
• Use Pantheon for hosting and development lifecycle workflows
• Collaborate with designers, developers, and stakeholders to deliver high-quality digital solutions

Required Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience building WordPress themes and plugins
• Proficiency with HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, PHP, and Node.js
• Experience with MySQL and REST APIs
• Skilled with CSS preprocessing (SASS) and frameworks (Tailwind, BEM, Bootstrap)
• Experience with front-end frameworks (Vue.js, React, or jQuery)
• Familiarity with SSH keys, CLI tools, FTP/SFTP, and Git-based deployments
• Knowledge of cross-browser compatibility and SEO/SEM best practices
• Basic image editing skills (Photoshop, GIMP, or similar)

Nice-to-Have

• Experience with AMP
• Familiarity with Google Cloud
• Knowledge of Web Accessibility (WCAG) standards
• Experience building WordPress blocks and patterns
