Role Overview
Join Cengage Group as a User Experience Manager leading a high-performing team of 5+ UX designers. This is a unique opportunity to shape the future of education technology by driving product innovation from concept to launch while mentoring and developing top design talent.
Key Responsibilities
Team Leadership & Development
- Manage and mentor 5+ UX designers, supporting their growth, performance, and career development
- Provide regular feedback, mentorship, and development plans
- Develop product thinking, design craft, storytelling, and cross-functional collaboration skills within the team
- Foster a strong UX culture built on collaboration, learning, and continuous improvement
Product Strategy & Innovation
- Lead 0→1 product build efforts, defining new products, platforms, and capabilities from concept to launch
- Partner with Product and Engineering to build product strategy and prioritize high-impact opportunities
- Translate ambiguous problems, user needs, and business goals into clear product direction
- Guide teams through discovery, experimentation, and iterative product development
Product Design & Delivery
- Contribute hands-on to product development, including workflows, interactions, prototypes, and frameworks
- Drive clarity and momentum in fast-paced environments with evolving requirements
- Influence product direction through strong user insight and product thinking
- Ensure experiences are accessible, intuitive, and scalable across platforms
Modern Practices & Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Encourage AI-enabled workflows to accelerate research, prototyping, and iteration
- Contribute to evolving build systems and scalable frameworks
- Collaborate with Product, Engineering, Research, and Content teams
- Communicate vision, priorities, and tradeoffs clearly with leadership and partners
Requirements
- Proven experience managing UX design teams
