UI/UX Designer/Frontend Eng. (Angular)--3m contract--remote

Role Overview

UI/UX Designer / Frontend Engineer with a focus on design and mentorship for two product engineering teams building complex, data-driven applications. This is a 3-month contract engagement with possible extension.

Key Responsibilities

UI/UX Design (Primary Focus)

• Design intuitive user flows and guided workflows for complex, data-heavy applications
• Create UI components and feature designs that support efficient task completion
• Improve usability and clarity within existing applications
• Communicate design decisions clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders

Cross-Team Collaboration

• Work closely with product managers, product owners, and engineering leads
• Support two teams simultaneously, adjusting focus as project phases evolve
• Participate in design reviews and iterative feedback cycles

Mentorship & Enablement

• Provide UI/UX guidance and best practices to junior or less design-mature teams
• Help upskill internal team members through coaching and feedback
• Serve as a UX thought partner

Frontend Development Support (Secondary Focus)

• Assist with frontend implementation as needed
• Support Angular-based component development and integration
• Provide technical guidance to engineers implementing UI designs

Required Skills & Experience

• Strong UI/UX design experience, particularly with complex or data-driven products
• Proven ability to design workflows, feature-level interactions, and functional UI components
• Experience collaborating closely with product and engineering teams
• Ability to clearly articulate design rationale and visual concepts
• Angular and TypeScript experience
• Familiarity with Angular Material or similar component libraries
• Experience working with REST-based APIs

Technical Environment

• Frontend: Angular, TypeScript, Angular Material
• Backend: REST APIs
• Infrastructure: Dockerized applications in AWS
• Tooling: Jira, Bitbucket, automated CI/CD pipelines
• Methodology: Kanban
• Team Size: ~9 members per team

Engagement Details

• Initial focus on pricing, quoting, and rating functionality for a data-heavy application
• Subsequent work supporting client-facing portal development
• Workload fluctuates based on project phase
• Core collaboration hours during standard business hours, with mornings being important
