About the Internship

This internship focuses on exploring deployment solutions for containerized applications across different environments (local, cloud, Kubernetes clusters, VMs) using unified manifests. The goal is to help developers deploy applications without managing deployment complexity directly.

Key Missions

• Build expertise in containerized application deployment across various contexts (local/cloud, VM/Kubernetes, etc.)
• Develop strong convictions about deployment strategies and tooling best practices
• Share discoveries with the OCTO team to improve deployment practices across projects
• Build a reusable infrastructure module library to support OCTO consultants on client missions

Internship Structure

Phase 1 - Scoping

• Code a simple full-stack application (frontend, API, database)
• Deploy the containerized application locally using various market tools

Phase 2 - Exploration

• Research existing open-source tools for deploying to cloud providers

Phase 3 - Design & Implementation

• Code a custom operator to understand deployment mechanisms
• Compare discovered solutions and develop informed opinions
• Generalize infrastructure code into easy-to-use modules for consultant teams

Phase 4 - Presentation

• Share learnings with the OCTO community through internal presentation and blog article

Requirements

• Pursuing a BAC+5 degree (5-year university program) and seeking an end-of-studies internship
• Strong interest in development and operations
• Desire to build applications end-to-end: from application code to CI/CD to infrastructure to monitoring
• Eager to explore emerging development tools
• Comfortable asking for help and sharing knowledge with passionate peers
