Role overview
Staff Product Manager for Liability (remote, anywhere in the world). You’ll lead the vision, roadmap, and execution of products that power liability determination—helping insurers evaluate fault, responsibility, and exposure when information is incomplete, conflicting, and jurisdiction-dependent.
Responsibilities
- Own product strategy and roadmap for liability determination products, aligning customer needs, regulatory requirements, and business outcomes.
- Design liability determination solutions, including:
- Fault evaluation across multi-party accidents
- Evidence ingestion (e.g., statements, photos, diagrams, police reports, and third-party data)
- Handling partial, disputed, or evolving information
- Supporting jurisdiction-specific rules and comparative negligence models
- Lead the full product lifecycle: discovery, problem framing, delivery, iteration, and scaling for complex logic, judgment, and edge cases.
- Partner with engineering, data, design, and claims experts to translate real liability workflows into scalable, intuitive experiences.
- Improve decision quality over time using data, experimentation, and feedback loops (quality, consistency, speed, explainability).
- Build systems that balance automation and human judgment, including:
- Decision-support tools
- Rules engines
- Human-in-the-loop workflows
- Communicate complex liability logic clearly, including tradeoffs and confidence levels.
- Ensure decisions are defensible and explainable to support auditability, regulatory review, and customer trust.
Requirements
- Experience building products for complex adjudication/decision-making, ideally in insurance, risk, fintech, or other regulated domains.
- Strong knowledge of liability determination, including fault assessment, comparative negligence, coverage considerations, subrogation implications, and jurisdictional variability (or ability to ramp quickly).
- Strategic product leadership: ability to define vision and manage nuanced edge cases.
- Technical fluency with rules/decision trees, data pipelines, or model-assisted recommendations.
- Analytical rigor and comfort reasoning under uncertainty where correctness can be probabilistic.
- Exceptional communication skills for technical, business, and operational audiences.
- Strong user empathy for claims professionals and customers in stressful, high-stakes situations.
