Role Overview
Join Twilio as a Staff Analytics Engineer in the R&D organization. This position is critical for advancing the consistency and quality of the R&D analytics data layer and accelerating analyst development velocity. You will design and maintain a robust analytics infrastructure that enables trusted reporting on R&D metrics.
Responsibilities
- Design and implement a formal analytics data layer using AWS Glue, Presto, and LookML
- Collaborate across the Data Science & Analytics team and with Product & Engineering to define, document, and maintain alignment on metric definitions and data lineage
- Develop and maintain automated data reconciliation and quality checks to identify and resolve discrepancies
- Lead investigations into complex data anomalies, conduct root cause analysis, and communicate findings to technical and non-technical audiences
- Mentor and guide members of the data science and analytics team, establishing best practices around data modeling, testing, documentation, and code review
Required Qualifications
- 6+ years of professional experience in analytics engineering, data engineering, business intelligence, or related discipline (ideally in B2B SaaS)
- Advanced expertise in SQL and hands-on experience designing data models and orchestrating data pipelines using AWS Glue or similar technologies
- Demonstrated ability to partner with cross-functional stakeholders to codify, document, and reconcile critical business metrics
- Proven track record of owning ambiguous projects from beginning to end with minimal guidance
- Strong technical communication and mentorship skills
Desired Qualifications
- Intermediate expertise in Python
- Experience with distributed computing technologies (Hive, Presto, Spark)
- Proficiency with dashboarding tools (Looker, Tableau)
- Proven track record implementing robust data quality and testing frameworks (dbt tests, CI/CD, data observability)
- Experience evangelizing and establishing data culture and best practices
Work Environment
- Remote position (not eligible for CA, CT, NJ, NY, PA, WA)
- Occasional travel may be required for in-person team and project meetings
