About the role

Role Overview

Sr. Firmware Engineer for IoT teams at a worker-owned creative collective. You'll own firmware architecture decisions across multiple product platforms, from hardware bring-up to field deployment and support.

Key Responsibilities

Own firmware architecture decisions across one or more active product platforms
Bring up new hardware revisions and integrate peripheral drivers with minimal ramp time
Monitor deployed firmware in the field, triage issues, and ship fixes with urgency
Design and implement wireless connectivity flows (pairing, OTA, reconnect logic, fleet health)
Process and validate firmware behavior across hardware variants and edge cases
Integrate new sensors, actuators, and communication modules into existing architectures
Participate in code reviews and maintain high standards for style, correctness, and maintainability
Track project scope, timeline, and technical risk; surface problems early
Communicate directly with clients to align deliverables with constraints

Must-Have Competencies

Production C/C++ expertise at register level: own memory layout, interrupt handling, real-time constraints
Shipped embedded firmware through DVT into mass production on at least one real product
Hardware bring-up independence: bootloader, BSP, device tree, peripheral drivers
Deep RTOS fluency

Nice-to-Haves

Backgrounds or interests in design, art, music, food, or fashion
Side projects or diverse hobbies demonstrating well-rounded design sensibility
