About the role
Role Overview
Sr. Firmware Engineer for IoT teams at a worker-owned creative collective. You'll own firmware architecture decisions across multiple product platforms, from hardware bring-up to field deployment and support.
Key Responsibilities
- Own firmware architecture decisions across one or more active product platforms
- Bring up new hardware revisions and integrate peripheral drivers with minimal ramp time
- Monitor deployed firmware in the field, triage issues, and ship fixes with urgency
- Design and implement wireless connectivity flows (pairing, OTA, reconnect logic, fleet health)
- Process and validate firmware behavior across hardware variants and edge cases
- Integrate new sensors, actuators, and communication modules into existing architectures
- Participate in code reviews and maintain high standards for style, correctness, and maintainability
- Track project scope, timeline, and technical risk; surface problems early
- Communicate directly with clients to align deliverables with constraints
Must-Have Competencies
- Production C/C++ expertise at register level: own memory layout, interrupt handling, real-time constraints
- Shipped embedded firmware through DVT into mass production on at least one real product
- Hardware bring-up independence: bootloader, BSP, device tree, peripheral drivers
- Deep RTOS fluency
